    Hello xvelle,

    A number of questions:

Is there anything that stands out that happened 2 weeks ago? - downloads, updates (including MS)?

Did you clean out the cache files: cookies, IE, Temporary Internet Files?

Have you looked at your connection setup panel, anything change?

Have you run something like SpyBot or Ad-aware or virus scans to rule out trojans - dialers - virus infection?

BTW - you posted to the wrong board. This is the XP board.

    Regards - Charles

edit note: just moved the thread from XP to ME and bumped it to the top - Newt

    Hi xvelle,

Post your reply on the board so everyone else can follow the thread with the actions you have taken. That way, if someone else comes up with a potential solution, they won't be advising something you've already tried.

Its early yet, wait for more advice.

    Regards - Charles

If it just pops off and reboots, this is a good indication the processor is overheating. Time to clean dust and cobwebs from the computer, inside and out. A can of air would be best, but hold the fans from spinning.

    Hi,
Thanks to everyone who has responded to my problem.........
I think I have solved the problem:--- What I did , I removed the network adapter from device manager---systems-----control panel
I also removed the dial up network ----- properties---modem---control panel. And then I rebooted the system.....
After start up I recreated a dial up network, and the system recreated the network adapter........PROBLEM SOLVED.....In fact, this post was written from my computer.......
I hope I was not too confusing and maybe it could assist someone else out there
    Thanks again for everyone's help
    xvelle
