Can someone explain why the RealPlayer plugin does not work in NS V6.2.1 when I have the plugin installed, it appears to happen when the Real file is embedded and keeps asking me to get a plugin that is already installed.

The following is the information from:
    http://home.netscape.com/plugins/manager.html
    for my browser.

    RealPlayer(tm) G2 LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In (32-bit)

    RealPlayer(tm) LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In
    Location:
    C:\Program Files\Netscape 6\components\nppl3260.dll
    Mime Types: Enabled: Description: Suffixes:
    audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin Yes RealPlayer(tm) as Plug-in (*.rpm) rpm
    RealPlayer(tm) LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In

    Hi paulbristow,

Plugins and Netscape 6.2.1 are just another feature that work for some and not for others.

Some users have reported that the newest Ver. of QuickTime, and Shockwave Flash will work in 6.2.1.

Supposedly, if you copy these plugin files from the 4.7x plugin folder to the 6.x plugin folder, they will work:

    npdsplay.dll
    npwmsdrm.dll
    npdrmv2.dll for
    Windows Media

    nppl3260.zip
    nppl3260.dll
    Real Player

    npavi32.dll
    Netscape

You might try this workaround that a user posted on the Netscape 6 NG, and see if it works for you:

    Configuring RealPlayer8 for Netscape 6

Thanks for the information all is working okay, with a bit of work.

I noticed that the plugin was pointing to C:/Program Files/Netscape/Components for the required dll (nppl3260.dll) when in fact the dll was sitting in plugins, (strange!) so a quick copy to the components directory and all worked.

I also added the new MIME types from your "Configuring RealPlayer8 for Netscape 6 " link.

    Thank you
    Paul

    Hey Paul,

Delight to hear that this fix worked for you! I'll have to give this a whirl myself.
