   automatic update keeps telling me to update microsoft.net framework. when it tries to update i get an unsuccesful attemp to update. what is microsoft.net framework? i don't know if i have it and don't even know if i need it. if i don't need it how do i get rid of it.

   I substituted # for @ in your email addy. Not wise to post it ... ... can be harvested by spammers.
   
   I don't have a solution to your problem but it has been discussed on WindowsBBS (not too long ago). Do a search and maybe you'll find the thread.
