Search for a program called TweakUI XP from Power Toys.

You can download Tweak UI XP version here. This version requires Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2003 be installed on the computer.
A good page to bookmark, contains a variety of XP download toys/tools can be found here

Just for the record, you can use TweakUI 1.33 as well as TweakUI 2.10 (XP). Despite the note on the XP PowerToys page saying that older versions of PowerToys must be uninstalled before installing new ones, in the case of Tweak 1.33 and Tweak 2.10, 'taint so.

The two versions co-exist very nicely and, while they do the same things, for the most part, each offers a few features that the other doesn't.

    Thank you guys.

One more question--is this Tweak UI a good thing to have on your computer and what is it's purpose?

For most users, it's a great thing to have, as it allows you to customize your computer and its GUI in a great many ways. TweakUI isn't "officially" supported by Microsoft, but it was created by MS programmers to add things that were left out of the official builds of Windows.

TweakUI 2.10 (XP) has a regular installation program, but Tweak 1.33 is installed by right-clicking on the tweakui.inf file (after unzipping the download) and selecting install. After closing the "About TweakUI" window, you'll find Tweak on your Control Panel.

Try it ... you'll like it! Just in case you don't, you can always uninstall it. :)

Thanks Jim--I think I had this in my Control panel when I was running Win 98 but never used it.
Like you said I can always give it a test try.

What either of the two Tweaks does is make a great variety of registry changes easily accessible. They're especially good for getting rid of little annoyances, like the "Shortcut to" prefix and the arrow on shortcut icons.

My experience is that I use them a lot when I'm setting up a system (mine is highly customized), but that I don't use them much after that. Still, I can't imagine not having them on my computer for when I do need them.

Another good free tweaker is X-Setup. If you can't do what you want with X-Setup, it probably can't be done.
