can I configure this to use the local time of my root server?

Certainly. Just use all the instructions at that link for synching workstations with your server and ignore the ones about linking your main server with an internet time service.

With a couple of tweaks to settings on your server (from the article) then going to each of your workstations and from a cmd prompt
    net time /setsntp:your-server-name
and you should be in business.

As to the 'shutdown' key, could you say what brand of PC and maybe what specific kbd? I'm still at a loss about the 'shutdown' key. If necessary, maybe email me a picture of the kbd with something indicating which key does the deed.

    Got It!!!

Hi Boss NEWT I wanna tell you that I have finally solve my problem eh its the user rights that keep on blocking the access. What I did is I made the Domain User be a local power user of his / her machine then it works they can now tune their machine system date and the power options. tnx for guiding me to the right track Boss NEWT ;)

Glad you found a fix that would work for you. The Power Options made things a little tougher but for just doing time, setting the w32time service to run with enough rights would do it. OTOH, in some networks is helps you (the admin fella) to have users with rights enough to do some stuff.
