Ready to kill my scanner!

I positively hate my UMAX scanner! Usually the computer can detect and use it, but today I had to reboot the machine and unplug the firewire cable from the scanner before the computer would detect it. On 5 consecutive occassions prior, it had detected it successfully.

I swear I'm about ready to throw it out the window!!!

Have you tried reinstalling the scanner software? That can cure a world of ills (said from experience). Also, do you have the latest drivers for the Firewire?

 

I was able to get it working again by unplugging the firewire and then plugging it back in. The problem is intermittent. Most of the time, it works right. But every once in a while it gives me flack. I have the latest for the scanner and Win98 SE provides its own firewire drivers.
