When viewing my Bank web sites my statements are in a pdf format. Using Firefox for years I have never had a problem until 4.1 came out. After installing the upgrade my statement are no longer viewable. Most of the time I just get a blank screen. I googled my problem and found out I was not along. Many people are having this problem and although I have tried many suggested fixes nothing works.
If I download the pdf file it has a ASPX extension. Not sure what that is.
When viewing my statements using IE all works well.
I installed Google Chrome and it too works fine. Opens statements without a problem.
I did uninstall Firefox 4.1 and reinstalled 3.6 but now the problem is there also. Firefox has a problem with pdf file for some but I am guessing not for all.
Has anyone heard of this problem and maybe found a fix.

Found these possible solutions on Mozilla support pages:
    1. Find nppdf32.dll in the Adobe Acrobat folder.
    2. Copy that file to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins.
    3. If the plugins folder doesn't exist, create it, then paste the file into it

    4. If you have the PDF Download add-on, disable it

    5. If you have the Adobe Reader plug-in, disable it then reinstall Reader using the latest release from Adobe, then re-enable the Reader plug-in.

See if any of those work.

Before you note the last thing I was told to try was to get rid of Adobe Reader and try Foxit Reader. I did and it didn't help.
After reading you note I removed Foxit and reinstalled Adobe for about the third or fourth time.
    You guessed it, it worked.
Still a difference between IE or Google Chrome. When using IE or Google Chrome and you select a statement it opens right now. No ifs ands or buts. It opens.
When using Firefox the first thing that happens is a blank screen shows up.
Then a small window opens and wants to know if you want to open or save. When you select open the save window shows up but it doesn't save anything. After all that then the statement opens.
Firefox is now working but what a way to get there.
Right now IE or Google Chrome has Firefox bet hands down to get to a statement.
    Thanks for the help.

I'm using Firefox 5.0 and have no problems reading bank statements. I don't use too many addons. Cheers Neil.:D

I'm using FF5.0 with Foxit Reader 5.0.1.0523 and have no problems at all. Personally, I like the option to open or save a PDF file ... sometimes I only want to look at it, but many times I want to download it for future reference.

In any event, as Miz suggested, if you have the PDF Download add-on installed, disable it or remove it.

In Firefox, go to Tools>Options>Applications tab.

There should be listings there for Acrobat Reader. When you click on one, a drop-down list appears letting you choose what you want it to do for PDF documents and forms.

Choose the appropriate actions in the drop-downs lists and see if that sorts things out.

I have "Use Adobe Acrobat in Firefox" selected. That opens the PDF file in a Firefox window. If you choose "Use Adobe Reader," that should open the Reader program with the PDF displayed in a separate Reader window.
