I know in Outlook Express I can read a entire suspicious message without actually opening it by going into Properties > Detail (using XP-Pro).

But how do you do the same thing in Outlook 2003. I found Options that shows the full header in text but is there any way to see the entire message without actually opening it similar to OE?

You'll have to make the following registry change:

    • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
    • Right click in the right pane and choose New > DWORD value
    • Value name: SaveAllMIMENotJustHeaders
      Value Data: 1

This will work only on new mail received after you create the registry key.

There's a change you'll have to 'create' the Options\Mail folders.

For Outlook 2007, the location is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\Mail

    Arie,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I followed/found everything up to the \Mail path but I am a little confused when you say:

    "There's a change you'll have to 'create' the Options\Mail folders. "

Is this another step I have to take or what?

    Please clarify.

    No.

Since you can navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\Mail you can just follw the instructions.

It could be that in some cases the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\ doesn't contain the \Options\Mail keys. in that case you'd have to create them.

    Arie,

    Sorry, one more question:

    The Modify Binary Data shows Value = 0000 00 00 00

    Where does the "1" go?

There is no "Modify Binary Data" when you create a DWORD Value.

    Arie,

Sorry I'm a little dense on this subject.
I went back in to the entry and did a modify to insert the 1 (I chose Digital not Hex is that right).

Unfortunately when I went back and hilited a new message, then right click, Options and look in the Internet Header box, I still see only the header info.

    1. Was I right that the "1" is digital not hex?

    2. After changing the registry, what exactly are the steps to see the unopened message displayed?

    3. I found the Reading Pane which seems to allow you to display each message just by tabbing down the message list. Is that the same as looking at the message "unopened "?

    thanks

    Arie will answer your queation.

Meanwhile, you can always just save the message to the Desktop and open it in Notepad.

Copy and paste the below in a text file on your desktop:

Rename it with the extension .reg, right-click the file and choose Merge to enter the information in your registry.

As for #2, you right-click the message and choose Message Options from the menu.

    As noted:
3: No. This is the same as opening the message AFAIK.
