Follow-up. Finally got version 1703 installed (without on-line connection). Had to use 2
HD's tho. 1 HD is internal, 1 is a external HD that is like a hot-swap. needs to be powered
down before plugging it in, not sure why 2HD's but it works.

Thinking the hangup, (blank screen after 1709 upgrade) was a missing graphics driver.
Had a PCI card installed (but no driver after formatting HD).
Finally MS started using their default display driver so i could install nvidia driver.

1 problem left (well 2), no sound at all. Tho i can see the the volume bars for speakers fluctuating
in the playback devices. On board sound, no speaker sound. Using "Sound Blaster plugin GO",
no speaker sound. Can hear sound via headphones.

2nd problem is not connecting to internet until i'm sure MS has fixed the 1709 and follow-on patch's
    for those 2 viruses.

Will followup when progress is made.
