I'm probably going to answer my own question here in my post, but anyway here goes.A friend of mine gave me a older computer to 'tinker'with the other day. When I tried to boot it up,I got a notice that there was a confict, one of the problems was a network card that was installed,as this system came from an office,I removed that card and fixed that problem. But the operating system still wouldn't work right. So I decided to format the hard drive and start over.As I've done this before,I didn't think it would be a big deal.I think that's where my problem started.I typed the following the 'first' time I formatted, format c: . Thats where I think I went wrong,I should have typed: format c: /s ,I went back and formatted again typing it with the /s present the second time.I got the same notice at the start both times about 'all data will be lost, proceed ? Of course I chose yes.The second time with the /s in it,at the end of formatting I got the notice about volume label,I just typed the date in.I had a boot floppy disk from a previous time.I have windows 95 on floppy disks,as this computer doesn't have a cd-rom.I can't get the windows setup disk to work,I just don't know what all to type in order to get the os loaded back onto the hard drive.I've stuck in the boot disk,I can access the floppy drive fine 'a' and I've typed dir and seen what all is on the disk, but I can't get much else to happen.Does anyone have any suggestions,I thought over the years I had learned more than this. Thanks so much.David W.
