Perhaps a similar question has been posted, but I could not find it. I am getting a new custom build system. The one and only part that will be moved from my 'old' computer to the new one is my second (slave / WD-80GB) hard disk (D), containing all my data and program files. On the new primary (C) hard disk (WD-39GB) the operating system (Windows XP Home) will be installed. My question is: do I have to re-install all the programs on disk-D one by one manually, so that disk-C 'knows' they are there. Or does anyone know if there is a shorter other way to re-install my programs. It would save me hours and hours. Hoping that someone has good advise, with kind greetings - EDUHA.

    Hell ed,

Yes, the OS doesn't "know" about your programs w/o the re-install.

Programs add .dll's and other files to the OS and may change registry settings.

    Regards - Charles

    Hello Charlesvar,

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. I was afraid that there is no other way for re-installing my software, so be it.

    Kind greetings - EDUHA.
