I am running win98se on a HP Pavilion 6653c desktop. However whenever I download a file (usually an upgrade driver file) the file will download but the monitor begins to flash uncontrollably. The main screen remais stable but the smaller download (insert) screen begins a rapid flashing which I cannot stop. Of course this prevents me from opening and installing the newly downloaded file. Otherwise the computer runs normally.

The only other thing I can think of is that I downloaded Adobe flashplayer 10 and when the flashing problem started, I uninstalled the Adobe 10 with the Windows uninstaller. Could the Adobe program be the cause of the problem? My thoughts are that perhaps the windows uninstaller program may not have completely removed all of the Adobe components.

If anyone can help resolve this please advise me on the solution. Otherwise, the only other idea I have is to completely reformat and reinstall the win98se operating system.

    Thanks....rocknroller...

Hi rocknroller, Adobe 10 won't run on Win98SE as it requires 128MB Graphics. Go to Adobe site and check requirements. They suggest Adobe 9 as the latest suitable for MS 98SE.
You may have to uninstall and clean out any bits of Adobe 10 before you Download and try to install Adobe 9. Neil.
