I did a fresh install of windows on my computer. It seemed to correct
the bsod's and all the nasty stuff I posted in my previous thread.
I have all updates from microsoft, and stuff seemed to run fine till the other day. Now its periodically restarting, specially if I try to install software.
I recieved a bsod today, but it didnt give me time to write down the error.
I feel like it has something todo with the printer drivers, as windows asked meto reinstall that sucker bout 4 times, before it stopped naggin me bout finding new hardware. If it restarts again, I think I'm goin to uninstall the printer to rule it out. So I'm wondering if there's something else I should look for. Could the hotfixes from windows be causing my misfortune?
    thanks much!

    Hello whah,

To shut off auto rebooting on an error:

My computer > right click properties > advanced tab > startup and recovery settings > untick automatically restart > apply > okay.

Post the error code and error message.

    Regards - Charles

thanks, hey I pprolly shoulda tried that, but the computer went stupid when I uninstalled my printer and ie 7. It booted backup to a blank screen. So I just bit the bullet, and reformatted again. I'm goin to load everything but the printer and see what happens.
could a stick of memory be goin bad or something? whats the symptoms of bad memory?
    thanks

Don't forget to update all the drivers after reinstalling XP (and all the Windows Updates).

Then, if you'd like to test your memory, try this free tester: http://www.memtest86.com/
