Hi all, hope I can get help here.

My pc just randomly restarts and it is getting really irratating.
It first freezes for 1-10 seconds then restarts.

    Here is the debugging log:

    Opened log file 'c:\debuglog.txt'

DuanHechter - Welcome to the Board :)

    First a note .....

Unfortunately these logs require expert knowledge to analyze and there are only 2 members (who occasionally visit WindowsBBS.com) that have the depth of knowledge necessary. Other members can make observations and suggestions as to how you might proceed toward finding the cause ....

There is clear evidence, IMO that the likely cause of the crashes is NetLimiter 2 Pro - I would uninstall it and see if that resolves the problem.

Should you need to post any further dump logs please use our Dump Data Collection tool.

I generally get very suspicious of bad memory with this behavior (restarts, not BSOD or shutdown).
If you have 2 or more sticks of memory, remove all and install / run 1 stick for twice the normal time of current failure. If you have only one stick, hopefully you can borrow some compatible memory. If BOTH sticks fail, both may be bad (borrow compatible to disprove) or problem is somewhere else. If you need to know the type of memory you are running, download / install EVEREST Free Edition 2.20. Keep in mind, OEM's (HP/Compaq/Dell can be very fussy / demanding in what memory will work. Continue to post DUMP logs to see if we can spot other possible problems.

Hi guys thanks for the replies.
Ok I did uninstall Netlimiter and the problem was still persisting.
So, I removed one of my ram sticks and the pc did not start up. This was wierd. So, I removed the "faulty" stick and put in the other one. Now my pc actually started up.

So now I thought I should test this. So I go play a game of wc3. What happened before I took out one of the ram sticks was, that it would freeze for 1-10 secs (like I said) and then restart. Now, with only one stick of ram it freezes, and then resumes. When it "freezes" my screen just goes black.

The thing I find funny is that when the screen goes black I can still type, and the people can still see what I am typing.

I think the next step is to scan my ram? I mean it has to be my ram. Anyone know of a good antivirus that can do that? I have gone through the free AVG options and I dont think that it has that feature.

    Thanks again.

Thinking back on this I don't believe that dump log is relevant - it is dated 1 Sept.

Have you set up the computer not to automatically restart on System Failure and to provide a memory dump?

Right Click My Computer > Properties > Advanced >Startup & Recovery > Settings and uncheck Automatically Restart.

First I would take out the one stick that is working.
The stick you refer to as "faulty" possible just needs to be cleaned. Using a pencil eraser, gently go over the contacts. Move the eraser the same direction as the lines on the contact area. With a soft brush, remove all foreign material.
Now install into computer. If it starts up, the problem may be have been this stick had poor / intermittent contact. Just do some normal browser / emailing. If computer is stable, shut down and install 2nd stick (both installed - would not hurt to clean up this 2nd stick). Now fire up computer and do what you normally do to create the problem.

    @ PeteC: Yea I did.
    @Dennis L: Thanks I'll try that now.

    Edit:
K well I cleaned my ram and I put both in, and the PC did not start up. I took the "faulty" one out and the PC froze on the xp loading screen. I restarted and tried again. This time it got to the logon but I got the blue screen of death(first time ever on this pc). It said something about nv_display not working. I'm guessing it has something to do with nVidea display. I put both rams sticks in and it worked.
Im downloading the new drivers now. Hope it works.

    Edit again:
Hey I've installed the new drivers and it seems to be working fine now.

Thanks a lot for your effort and help.
