    For the last two years we have run a 600Mb video clip out of a RAMdrive on a AMD 1GHz Athlon PC with 768Mb RAM. As part of servicing the PC was replaced with a AMD Athlon XP 2.5GHz PC with 1Gb RAM. The RAMdrive is set up OK but then won't load windows.

    Is there any suggestions as possible solutions?
    Is there a better way now of doing it, I need fast data transfer of a solid state device relatively cheaply?
    I'm using "xmsdsk.exe" to create the RAMdrive is there another program which will do it?
    Can I do it from windows?

    Could this be the NDIS problem ?

    I don't think you can make ramdrive from inside win98 unless special program to do it. Needs to be loaded at boot. Also, as i recall: for more than .5 GB ram with Win98se you need to set parameter in system.ini

    [vcache]
    MinFileCache=262144

    at least for 1 GB ram (1/4 of ram minimum, kick it up bigger if you want but keep powers (chunks of 64 MB) ... this is probably your problem).
