Ram settings and usage?

Recently i have been wondering how much ram i have available, how much is being used by the programs i'm running and so on and so forth. Basically, i would just like to keep a better tab on my ram, i only have 32meg (old computer!!) and want to make sure i'm using it all effeceintly.

If you could also direct me to a sight where i might be able to get a little more information on how to customize my ram i would be very greatful.
