I am running Vista Home Premium 64 bit and I have 4 Gigs of RAM. Is it unusual to be using about 2 Gigs while The computer is idle?

Sounds normal to me. I'm guessing by idle you mean you don't have any applications open. Might do a fresh reboot and check the amount again..But Vista is a pig when it comes to using lots of ram....

Thanks. Maybe I should've bought the computer with 8 gigs of RAM.

Thanks. I did the reboot and then it was only using 1.48 Gigs. Maybe I should have bought the computer with 8 Gigs instead.

Keep in mind that "Unused ram is wasted ram. "

Exactly! So you have 2GB ram not being used, so instead of 4GB you could have gotten 2GB :D

    :D

I ran Vista for ages on 1GB, but only for basic operations. It ran OK. I could eventually make it "fall over" by opening too many applications, but I knew that was going to happen.
