Ram and my HP 511w

    Looking for some advice. I am fixing to up grade my pc with more RAM.. I have been told to go to diff web sites but i cant aford what they want to charge. I will have to by used RAM.. I have a friend who can get me ram chep I just have to know what to tel him to get. I Know I need SDRAM and I can upgrade to 512MB. Now i just need to know EEC Non EEC. Low Density or High Density Registerd or Non Registerd. I got a hold of Tech suport with my Qustions and all they could say was it does not matter to my qustions just make sure you can get your cash back if it is wrong. Can some on give me some advise. any info would be great and I wont hold it aginest any body. LOL

    What you need:
    Any brand PC-100 SDRAM
    You have 2 DIMM slots and comp max is 512 MB memory. That means you can put up to 256 MB in each slot. Your comp comes with 128 MB ram, thus you will have to buy 2 - 256 MB ram sticks, the existing stick of ram in your comp will not be used.

    You can buy pc 100 ram at any comp store, including office depot, office max, staples, best buy, circuit city, comp usa, etc etc.

    Do not worry about non ECC, low density, etc, pc 100 ram is pc 100 ram. Tell your friend ANY pc 100 sdram will work.

    Thank you so much for the help. You have made it so easy and very less confusing.. I was having people telling me that EEC would not work that was only for serveres and such. I also noticed you said as long as it was pc100 i was also tld it would take pc133 thats what the http://www.crucial.com/ said also. Thanks for the advice will tell him any thing pc100.. Once a gine thanks for the help. :)
