I am trying to reformat my harddrive with Windows XP. I've done this probably 6 or 7 times in my past, and usually it goes without much problems

Today is different. So I begin the process. I have an 80 gig drive I'm installing it on, so I set it to 2 partitions, one 25 gigs for the OS..and the other for just random files.

After setting this up, I hit enter to begin to install XP, choose the regular(not quick) format, and let it go. At about 35-36% it freezes. I've left it for hours, still stuck. I tried another XP disc I have, same thing happened.

Any idea what it could be? Could it be my hard drive is failing or something like that?

I would suspect the HDD is failing. Download the manufacturers diagnostic software and run it to confirm.
