Quick tool for removing spyware and virus

    Hi there.

    This forum just gave me a bright idea - if we can save the report of Hijack this (or some util) when the system is CLEAN, it can be compared to a log or report when the system is compromised. Could save a lot of frustation and lost time.

    What do you gurus out there think ? Workable ?

    Yes, good idea, otherwise known as a baseline :)

    Should be done with any number of security\system reporting apps such as Registry Cleaners.

    I agree with Charles - been doing just that for a number of years, but be aware that new software may add entries to the list :)

    Thanks for your response.

    PeteC regarding your observation, if a new log is created after adding or removing a program it would be much better. But the big question is would users do it ? Does somebody out there knows how to automate it ?

    I doubt it - unless they are very methodical :) I think we should bear in mind that in spite of it's apparent simplicity, HJT is an advanced tool and there are not many users who are capable of identifying the baddies.
    You could try adding it to Task Scheduler or to Start Up, but it is likely to need a bit more than just that.
