One of my two WinXP systems rearranges the order of the items in QuickLaunch
(the other does not). How can I prevent this re-arranging (alphabetical
    sorting)?

    Thank you Goddez1
I found a much better solution - Locking the TaskBar prevents resorting.

    Hi again Sebastian42,

The quicklaunch section of the Taskbar Repair tool had a better track record for fixing such. That is why it was my first suggestion. I am happy to see that a "taskbar lock" was the fix that worked for yourself.

Thanks for updating your post and sharing the fix that worked for you.

Since you like feedback - there is more to it. The problem arose for me when I wanted a separate QuickLaunch bar above the TaskBar, so that ALL the contents would be in view. Then there was a discrepancy between the resorted 'normal' QuickLaunch and the one above the TaskBar. Someone suggested revealing the entire contents of the QuickLaunch by doubling the height of the TaskBar, instead of my inferior way of having a separate QuickLaunch in addition to the normal QuickLaunch.

I'm no longer so sure that the two WinXP systems DIFFERED in whether or not they RE-sort the QuickLaunch Bar, but I have found the most (?) reliable solution to involve prefixing the names of the QuickLaunch shortcuts numerically in the desired order.
