I have read through the posted threads and I used the advice but I am still having problems. I didn't delete anything today. All of sudden my computer started downloading stuff on its own and my tool bar disappeared. I have searched for the file and the file does not exhist. How do I get my tool bar to become active again???

I dont quite sure what is wrong. I think you have some error messages when you trying to use the bar. If so, search that message at
    http://support.microsoft.com
You most likely can find an answer. Good luck.

    CynthiaRM1977--
Just losing Quick Launch probably is no big deal, since it can be restored, but that your PC is "downloading stuff on its own" does not sound good.
As mirror has suggested, you may have a virus, or spyware, or a highjacker or a trojan.
Suggest you run a scan with your antivirus (first being sure you have the latest virus definitions), then scan with a spyware detector like
    AdAware
    http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/
    or
    SpybotS&D
    http://www.safer-networking.org/
(Again being sure you have the latest reference files.)
If the problem still exists then run HiJackThis
    http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
You will probably want to post the log here for analysis before deleting anything based on HJT.
