    Hi All,
I am a bit overpowered by processor specs and marketing hype and this has provoked two questions.
    a. Can a 64 bit Vista installation run a 32 bit app. like Photoshop?
    b. Will Vista, Photoshop, or any processor intensive app. run faster on a dual
    core processor?

If the answer to these questions is yes, As my ASUS A8V-X mobo will take one I think I shall buy a new dual core processor before I install Vista.
    Thanks for any advice,

    Roger:confused:

    To iterate Mr. Jones.......

Being there are very few if any strict 64 bit apps - yes a 64 bit install will surely run all 32 bit apps.

I find with graphics, especially Photoshop, and a little Canon app for my camera, my wait time to redraw the screen is nil - I do run a dualie - mine is 2 AMD 2800+ CPU's with 4G of ECC registered memory. Don't ask why I got so much, I can't tell you. I ran across a deal. I probably have more processing power that the original Cray computer..... :) I can open, so far that I know of, 72 standard VGA photos off the Canon 256M SD chip at one time. Makes for a busy screen. Probably can do more, but haven't really looked.

Graphics run faster with a dual setup, most likely many other things do also... - I'm AMD biased, and a little spoiled.. (4G RAM will spoil almost anyone!!)

If you can get dual processing equipment - GET IT! It WILL work better...

    My .02

Dual cores will reward your investment with increased power no matter what version of Vista that you choose.

I'm hoping to see further support for the x64 versions - but am wary because of the lack of options for the x64 version of XP. But I'm hoping that x64 will blossom with Vista.

FWIW - I've got 4 gB of RAM, and the 32 bit version of Vista won't recognize it all. It'd be nice to get it all recognized and usable! :)

Will install in a dual boot configuration here because of my experience with XP x64 which I currently dual boot because XP x64 will NOT run some 32 bit programs used frequently, even though it runs many just fine. Try dual boot; it's easy to set up and use, and my machine boots to the desktop in well under a minute - I've been on line from power on to browser open with four tabs downloaded in 37 seconds! . That includes typeing my password (8 alphanumerics, no caps)
