When io run chkdsk /f it reports 8Kbytes in bad sectors. If I run chkdsk /r will the data in the bad sectors be recovered and moved to good sectors and will additional data be prevented from using these bad sectors i e if i install lets say updates or new applications.....Den........................

    Hi D.Matura

chkdsk /f will fix errors in the volume of the disk and also flag the bad sectors on the disk so they will not be written to in the future.

chkdsk /r will look for the flagged bad sectors and try to recover any readable data and move it to good sectors.
