I am experiencing an unexpected event which appeared harmless:

I have a Dell dual booted win2k pro/redhat. If the 'start window' sound of win2k was turned off then the 'start KDE' sound of redhat was also off. Very reproducible. Is it normal? If it is then How many other correlated events I may expect?

    ?!?
Red Hat and Microsoft don't even read the same file system, (although Red Hat can if you recompile the kernel to include NTFS.)

I'm not sure what to say. I've never seen this, and I've dual booted several times with Dell systems.

In fact I'm currently triple booting, Solaris 8 x86, Red Hat Linux 7.3, and WinXP w/o any issues, except of course Solaris doesn't have sound.
