I've posted before about an error with my moms computer. Its an older HP 504N. The system recovery and most other programs wont work. Including add/remove programs. Well, in my attempts to fix it. I seem to have srewed it up worse. It wont boot up at all. I callled HP. They dont have any System recovery discs for my model anymore. And these computers didnt come with one. They have a pratitioned harddrive with the recovery data as hard drive D. Well, I have one of these same models myself. Is there a way to burn the Recovery data from my computer onto a disc so I can use it to fix hers?

You don't say if you have tried to boot to the recovery partition and run it. There will be instructions at the HP website.

If your system has the ability to add another HDD, you could take the HDD out of her computer and put it in yours as a slave or secondary master HDD. Your "system" won't see your own HDDs recovery partition, because it will be "hidden ", but any good backup software should be able to. You should just need to copy (back up) your recovery partition to her's.

If you need backup software, try the program SyncBack.

Those are my theories, if you want confirmation, it would be better to ask at the forums on the HP website. I try to avoid recovery partitions if I can ;):)

I appreciate it. But I got it fixed. I made a set of Recovery discs from my computer, and did a complete reformat on hers with them. But I do thank everyone for all the help, both on this thread and the other that I had.
