If we are running DHCP and use the command:
    netsh dhcp show server

    What should the output be?

When I run this from our domain server (2003) , it says:
0 Servers were found in the directory service:

When I run this command from our DHCP computer (Windows 2000) it says:
    DHCP Show Server failed.
Error = The DHCP service could not contact Active Directory.

Ahh, I just checked our DHCP server and it is not part of our domain. It is performing its function as a DHCP server. Is this a problem for it to be off our domain and part of a workgroup?

Your DHCP server does not have to be part of your domain to function. You could provide DHCP from a router if you wish.
The reason the 2k3 server doesn't find a DHCP server is because the 2k machine is not a member server so it isn't listed in AD.
The 2k machine is erroring because it isn't a member server and does not have the credentials query AD.

DHCP was working but the command line that should show a server didn't show it ... probably because it wasn't on the domain. I found out it was terminal server. When I went to add it to the domain, I had to make a few changes to some settings to allow it to be seen.

Now when I run the netsh command it does show a dhcp server. However, now I check the event viewer and it shows someting about a license. I can't remember the details ... it's been a week or so. I looked up the message on the internet and it seems it can run in a workgroup with no license but needs a license on a domain. It is working however.
