I am running Windows 2000 SP4 as a standalone home computer. In my event viewer, I see the following message daily:

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: RSVP
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 10047
    Date: 6/21/2004
    Time: 10:30:09 AM
    User: N/A
    Computer: E49882
    Description:
QoS RSVP has failed to find any interfaces with traffic control enabled. Install QoS traffic control services via network and dial-up connections.

I looked this up at under Windows article Q233203 and it says to install QoS Packet Scheduler and states how to do this. I ask because ZA alerts seem to pop up regarding this. If I am not experiencing any problems with my computer, do I really need this? Should I just tell ZA to not show these alerts? I'm afraid to install anything if I really don't need to, especially when I don't fully understand what this will do to my machine.

    Thank you.

    Hi Jeane!

I run XP pro which is similar to W2k and according to my information, You don't need QoS Packet Scheduleron a stand alone computer. It is needed for communication between computers on a network.

I have actually disabled QoS Packet Scheduler and "File and Printer Sharing" on my network connection since it is said that if I'm not going to need it, why have it running?

As a side note, I have disabled a number of unnecessary services which produce a number of warnings and errors in my log but everything works okey.
