    Bought a new hp2110 printer/scanner...running XP pro....!!!

    Anyone have any problems??
I installed from there CD for a NO go, so i d/l the latest hp drivers (all 111mb's) from there web site for same result. I've un-installed/installed it 3 times and usb showes in usb devices and properties...everything looks fine but get error's when trying to print anything either image or data.

We can't buy new printers with the old LPT1 serial port cable any more..?? This USB *****.....at least so far.

I have usb 1 and there tech said ...no problem..also they don't have any answer's......i guess it's going back to office-depo.

I had a problem after installing a HP2210 - loading the siftware. Solved by getting help from http://www.hp.com/go/support.

    I got excellent assistance.

USB devices require that before you connect it to the USB port, you install its software first, re-boot and then switch the device on and then conn it to the USB port.

Ignore my post if you have followed this procedure. You will be amazed how many times I have posted the correct procedure.

Interesting scenario Mahmud603 and applicate the advice...:)

My HP instructions pointed out.....to install the software first and i did...but when it ask me to turn it on and plug it in...i did.

I have to admit that (at that plugin screen), it did have a option button to continue without connecting it....and i didn't.

Maybe i'll start all over and see what happens.

I keep thinking about what a friend said.....he said that i shouldn't have (all my stuff), my usb modem, my web cam and the printer plug'd into the front panel hub but it does have it's own power-plug.

Your mother board is not by any chance based on a VIA chipset is it?

USB based on that chipset (as mine is) is next to useless. I will cut a long story short but the only way I have managed to retain my sanity is by installing a USB 2 PCI card which gave me 5 USB port.

Whereas before that I could print a page or 2 on my HP 1120C and remain connected to the Internet for maximum 10 to 20 minutes, I can now print as many as I like, use my Webcam effectively and remain connected to the Internet for days without losing connection. Just make sure that any USB 2 PCI card you decide to buy is NOT based on a VIA chipest.
