    Hi there,

This is more of an annoyance than anything else but I would like to find the reason why firefox has started crashing on me. I originally started using the previous version of firefox back in July with NO problems but when I updated to version 3.01 it started crashing on me. This usually occurs when I am on facebook playing the java based game (packrat). The error is always the same:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Application Error
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1000
    Date: 25/08/2008
    Time: 11:37:20 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer:
    Description:
Faulting application firefox.exe, version 1.9.0.3105, faulting module js3250.dll, version 4.0.0.0, fault address 0x0000e51c.

When I re-open firefox everything will work fine for a while then the same crash will occur. I usually have two tabs open when this happens.
My operating system is WinXP SP2.
I realize that the js3250.dll error is not a new one and when I googled the error there were lots of forums with so-called solutions. Unfortunately, nothing that I have tried so far has corrected the problem.
Here is what I've done so far.
Scanned for malware with Ad-Aware, Spybot, Superantispyware, Malwarebytes, Avira Antivir....NO malware found
I created a new profile but it still crashed.
I have no add-ons or extensions installed but ran it in safe mode anyway, and the crash still occurred.
I completely uninstalled firefox along with all traces of the profiles and registry entries left behind then reinstalled a fresh copy...no change.
I uninstalled all versions of Java then reinstalled the latest version: 1.6.0_07
    Updated to Windows Script 5.7
I also did the usually temp file clean-up with ATF cleaner and CCleaner.

Any suggestions as to what I can try next?
I've read that there is a portable version of firefox and wonder if I should try installing that.
FYI my js3250.dll file is version 4.0, 679kb.
    Thanks :)

I have used IE7 while playing packrat as well and although it is PAINFULLY slow, it does NOT crash.

U don't use Facebook, so I can't check what you report. You gave extensive info, but not the basic one, i.e. the Packrat version. Check this. There something weird about the game. Do also a Google of: "packrat causes firefox crash ".

    Hi Westside,
Thanks for your response. Actually, the link you provided is actually an add-on script to help people cheat at the game. Packrat is an online application and the only requirement is that java is installed. I'll keep searching it out....thought maybe someone else might be having the same issue since there are tons of hits when I search js3250.dll.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. I've also tried many different solutions and still get the
Procedure entry point JS_DHashGetKeyStub could not be located in dynamic link library js3250.dll
Message on a regular basis. It seems to happen after my son uses the computer but he says he can NEVER get firefox to work so he uses Explorer. Seems to happen every couple of days. I usually end up uninstalling ff and reinstalling and it will work for a while. But its a pain in the A%%. Looking forward to seeing a solution to this problem.

It's been 3 days since I've had a crash. An unrelated update (or what I thought was unrelated) for my Itunes and Quicktime appears to have solved the problem. Prior to the Quicktime update, when I viewed about:plugins...quicktime was only listed once (I'm not sure what the file name was)...now it is listed 6 times: npqtplugin to npqtplugin6.
So, for me, updating quicktime appears to have solved the problem :).

Quicktime7.5 is, actually, listed 7-9 times, depending on what it does. I don't remember the last time that it did not have, at least, six components.

Well, I guess it was never installed correctly in the first place. I'm just glad to have the problem corrected because I much prefer firefox over IE7 :)
    Thanks for your response!
