I would like to put a URL on the Quick Launch Toolbar which will take me to a web site while I am using Netscape. If I drag the URL onto the Quick Launch Toolbar from Netscape, I do get an icon but when I click it, it first opens IE and then goes to the URL I want. I do not want IE to open, but to simply go to the URL within Netscape. Anyone know how to do this?

    Hi ackerberg,

O.K., I have a link to this BBS on my Quick Launch Toolbar, and with Netscape open, it launches within the program.... not in IE.

Is Communicator your default browser? If so, in Preferences|Navigator|Applications, is Netscape listed for Hypertext Markup Language? Your Netscape application should be associated with HTML, if you wish links to open within Netscape, and not IE. I also checked my File Types in Windows Explorer and my URL File Types are also associated with Netscape.

You could also add Netscape to your "Send To" and then right click the Netscape link icon in the Quick Launch Toolbar and select Netscape.

Or there is the other option, which is to add the following to the shortcut properties...

    path_to_netscape.exe http://www.windowsbbs.com/

    Great tip, tranquilo!

My Internet Shortcuts only work with IE now that it is my default browser (they never worked right with Netscape as the default). By changing the target of my Netscape shortcut to "C:\Program
    Files\NETSCAPE\Communicator\Program\netscape.exe" http://www.windowsbbs.com
(or any other url) and renaming the shortcut, for example, WindowsBBS, I now have something similar that works with Netscape.

Thanks everyone. I just added the URL to the Netscape shortcut and it works great!

    Good to hear ackerberg!

Thanks for the tip tranquilo! With Netscape as the default browser, of course that is the shortcut path. I think this would be a good one for my Solutions page.
