    Hey,
So i have anouther question for you.
Why is it that a PS\2 to Comm port converter (for a mouse) dosent actually work??

Does this have something to do with the voltage that a PS\2 mouse needs?? Like the comm port cannot supply the higher voltage??

I have seen this work before, but that was on an older computer.
Its a optical mouse with 2 scrollers and 4 other buttons.....

Please any feed back would be good.

    regards
    redghan

I have no knowledge of the technical aspects of the answer to your question; however, I do know that this has been a problem for many years.

First, the adapter that is designed for and comes packaged with a certain mouse does not work on all systems. It does, however, work on most. Secondly, adapters bought separately (not packaged with a certain mouse) has even less of a chance of working.

I have two such mice in my shop; both came packaged with their own adapter. These mice both work on most systems; however, there are some systems on which only one of those mice will work.

It is a mystery to me; I've just learned to accept it. Obviously, a PS/2 mouse was not intended to work on a serial connection, and if it does, just consider yourself lucky.

Like Alex stated this probelm is ages old. And I also have learned to accept it.

I have had the same problems with PS2 to Serial.

I have as yet not had any problems with a USB/PS2 combination.

I have two PS2/USB ( or USB/PS2 which ever they are) optical mice on this machine and no problems.
