promise fasttrack 378

    hello

    to start with i am a computer dumb old man and dont know what promise fasttrack 378 or Raid is or what they do. but am looking for some help.
    in my device manager i got: WinXP Promise Fasttrack 378 Controller and WinXP Promise RAID Console SCSI Processer Device running and working properly.

    in my BIOS i got: OnBoard Promise Controller = [ENABLED]
    and Operating Mode set to [RAID].
    oh! and when i bootup i get something like bios not installed for fasttrack controller ( not sure about what it says).
    this does not seem right to me what should i do?
    do i need to unistall (how) or do i need it?

    Don't be so hard on yourself. We'll do that for you:eek: (just kidding)

    RAID and Raid Controllers are special purpose use devices for more then One hard drive.

    Are you setting up a pc for the first time?
    Or how did you get to the point where you are now?

    thanks for you reply. shoot i am just going from one problem to the next trying to get this pc right. i got two sata hard drives but have never set up any sata or raid stuff i want to either get rid of it or install it right and i have read a little bit about setting up raid , but thats beyond me.
    any ideas would be appreciated.
