Programs Not Loading At All

There are a couple programs that don't load at all when I access them. (Specifically Windows Media Player 11 and System Restore.) I'll click them and the hourglass appears for a moment, then disappears. Sometimes System Restore comes up but the screen is blank. I've tried rebooting a bunch of times but they still don't work. The program appears in the start menu so I'm sure I accessed it correctly.

 

Try reinstalling System Restore.

Do a drive search for a file named sr.inf. When found, it should be in the C:\Windows\inf folder. Right click on it and click install from the context menu.

Reboot the computer. Then open System Restore and disable it. Then re-enable it. Reboot once again. Test whether it is now working and post back your results.
