Program Installation Problems in XP Pro

I am having some problems installing certain programs under Windows XP. Some programs such as MS Frontpage 2000 and Adobe Photoshop 6.0 do not autorun when first put in the CD drive. I tried to manually run the install file put nothing happens. I get no error messages at all. Some programs such as Mozilla 1.2 display a message saying it extracting the setup files but then nothing happens.

I am logged in as the administrator. I have install several other programs such as Ahead Nero 5, Office XP Pro, and Quicken 2000.

Below is my current system configuration:
Windows XP Pro Upgrade SP1 (clean install)
40 GB HD partitioned into 4 10GB partitions
MS Office XP Pro
1.6 GHz P4
256 MB RAM
ASUS P4TE MotherBoard

 

form things i have read and from other people that have installed the XP sp1, this could be the source of your problems. I myself have not installed it on my system and have had no problems installing some of the software you seem to have problems with.

this maybe worth looking into. Hope this may help a little.
