PRogram Error in explorer.exe

    WHen my system boots up the first message get is a
    PROGRAM ERROR
    Explorer.exe has generated errors & will be closed by windows. You will need to restarat the program. An error log will be created.

    When I start Explorer a second pop-up message appears
    INTERNT EXPLORER COMPATABILITY MODE
    This is being run in compatability mode not all features are enabled

    Using Event Viewer I found these additional message

    Application Log First Message - perfnet
    Unable to open the Server service. Server performance data will not be returned. Error code returned is in data DWORD 0.

    Second Message - Winmgmt
    WMI ADAP was unable to load the perfproc.dll performance library due to an unknown problem within the library: 0x0

    System Log Message - w3svc
    The server was unable to add the virtual root '/D' for the directory 'd:\' due to the following error: The device is not ready. The data is the error code.

    The main problem is I am not running the IE 6.o version I recently installed.

    Which operating system? Could you post the Details of the Explorer.exe error message? And last, could you expand on "The main problem is I am not running the IE 6.o version I recently installed. "
