Setting up Xp on my church's computer. There are multiple users and certain programs need to be acessed by a number of those users. One problem is with Nero. Installed it using sys admin. I cannot run it as any other user. Error message to the effect "user needs admin to give burn rights and permission for user to use nero ".
There are others, but I need to get this working first.

When I installed Xp I used ntfs file system in order to take advantage security and sharing features.

Things like MS office programs are not having any problems.

Got the fix from friends over at VirtualDr:

Check this out: This is what you need to make this work.

The next problem is with Foxmail. Same thing, won't start as user, power user etc.

Since you will already have the Nero group built, try adding it to the security/permissions to the folder holding the Foxmail files and give the group admin rights.

XP-pro just right-click on the folder and properties~security.

XP-home will require you to boot to safe mode to be able to see the security tab but do the same thing.

The NT systems (NT/2K/XP) use what is called "most restrictive permissions" for security which means if a user is a member of two groups that have permissions for a folder and one group is admin while the other has only read access, the user will have only read access.

So if there is an everyone group in the folder's security, delete it. Alternately you could simply give everyone full access to the Foxmail folder if that's what you want.

Set up permissions in each program folder and also set up poweruser access in regisrty for two programs. All is well in beanville
