Profiles from 4.78 Upgraded to 7.1 on ME to 7.1 on XP- don't move!

Hey all- I have an ME laptop that I upgraded from Netscape 4.79 to 7.1, then want to move my profiles, Personal Toolbar, bookmarks to my new XP laptop that has Netscape v7.1 just installed on it. I installed v7.1 on the new pc but it wants to use \documents and settings where the OLD laptop uses the \program files\netscape\users dir structure...how do I move it ALL (even the personal toolbar) over when the structures are so different? I tried making XP v7.1 use the \Program files\netscape\users\MYPROFILENAME dir copying the upgraded ME dir to the XP \docs and settings but stuff is NOT the same...AND there is NO real import that gets it all. Any ideas? Hope this makes sense...any links that I can check? Thanks in advance!

You must have at least one profile. I create a "dummy" profile for this purpose, and only then you can place profile somewhere else. It is easy with only one extra profile. Open the dummy profile, and with Netscape open, delete the Registry.dat file. And only the open profile will be listed in the profile manager.
Now you have to know exactly the name of profile which you want to move, and then you can create a profile, using the profile manager, replace the name default, and select the directory. Exit, and you should see dummy and non-dummy.
I think that it should work. I have only one profile in the default location, and I have a number of them in a NS and others in Mozprofiles folders. I think that I have six profiles in non default locations.

Netscape 7.1 isn't an upgrade for your 4.79, and is an all new, unique, program, including codes. As an extra security measure the Profile data is stored in a randomly named directory (*.slt) to make it difficult for malicious programs, viruses, etc., to find profile data.

To move your Profile data from 4.79 to 7.1:
Address Book:
Open Netscape 7.1's Address Book
Select: Tools | Import
The rest is self explanatory

Bookmarks:
Rename the 4.79 bookmark.htm file to:
bookmarks.html, then copy to the 7.1 salted folder (*.slt)

Mail:
Copy the files in the 4.79 Mail folder without the SNM extension. Paste these files into the 7.1 Mail Folder.

If you have existing Mail in the 7.1 Mail folders, the renamed files will replace any existing files in the new Mail folder. You may first want to rename the Communicator 4.x Mail files, e.g., change Inbox to OldInbox, etc. The renamed files will appear in the Netscape 7.1 Mail. This will ensure that you lose no existing mail.
