profile folder (old vs. new default one)

I just installed FF 1.0. I removed the new default "profile" folder from my newly created Mozilla Firefox\defaults folder (just placed it on my desktop for the time being, in case it turns out I did something wrong) and replaced it with my backup profile folder from FF1.0PR. Everything seems to be working fine (all my bookmarks show up, for example), but it seems to me the folder setup is different from before.
Under 1.0PR, wasn't there a Profile folder within another Profiles folder? When I compare the contents of the two versions of the profile folders, there are a lot more files in my 1.0PR one (a number of .ini, .db, and .dat files; cookies.txt; signons.txt; XUL.mfl, to name a few) than in the 1.0 one. Are these just files that are created as I use FF? Can I just leave all the "extras" as is, or should I delete any files that don't also show up in the new (default) folder?
    Thanks,
    Rebecca
[I must say, having taken Ramona's advice (uninstalling 1.0PR and deleting my Mozilla Firefox folder prior to installing 1.0), I am positively astonished at how smoothly the "transfer" went. Not a single glitch this time!]

    rebecca,

Don't disturb your profile by adding or deleting any files. Yes, some of those files are either obsolete, or are created as you use the browser. Take a look at the Sticky on Preventive Browser Maintenance, and you will see that the XUL.mfl file should be deleted fairly frequently.

I'm delighted to hear that your unstall/install experience went smoothly!
