Every few minutes, Windows Installer tries to launch an unnamed and unknown application here are the various messages I receive while Windows Installer is attempting to install:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.

Insert the 'Scan' disk and click OK "; Also in the window next to the "Browse" button, it places a "1" (my quotes). When I click cancel I get the following error message:
"Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Scan. The Windows Installer cannot continue. "

I have searched for all possible files/programs containing the word "Scan" and have, after review, deleted those files. I used the search parameters of Windows Installer and Scan. Nothing came up, yet Windows Installer continues to try to install something called Scan every few minutes. Anyone have any ideas about how to stop this annoying process. I use my computer for work and time sensitive transactions. The installer freezes my activity while it attempts to make the install and is very disruptive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks Pete. It finally occurred to me that the "Scan" might be referring to my HP All-In-One printer. When Windows Installer again tried to install Scan, I put in the disc for the HP software. That seems to have solved the problem but I will download the utility and run it just in case....
