Resolved Problems with Stand by

    Have just started getting a problem that my computer takes much longer to enter stand by then the time set in Power Options.

    Desktop. WinXP Pro, SP3, 3G memory.

    Then forget about power saving features. Microsoft never made them working 100%.
    What do you need them for in case of desktop?

    Hi Bill. Before you enter standby try shutting down all programs that are running in the system tray. Having a lot of progams running can cause a system to take a long time to enter standby.

    Not really a solution as standby is induced automatically as billf infers ....

    Thanks for replies. Use hibernate 'cos I always have and until now never had a problem. Don't have a lot of progs in my system tray. Just the ones I always have, Printer, Keyboard, ZA, Ghost.
