Hi !!! I have tried to slipstream my winxpPRO cd with sp1a. I've followed everystep and everything went perfect. Then , I formatted the h/d and booted from my new slipstreamed winxp cd . Everything worked fine until the moment that windows asked for the serial number to continue with the instalation. I gave the number but it refused it , reporting it as wrong !!!! I checked it many times , but nothing changed , so I rebooted , reformatted and re-installed windows from my non-slipstreamed cd . Of course this time everything worked , including the serial number... What should I do??

If you have one of the serial numbers Microsoft disabled (too many stolen copies) then you could load XP without problems but SP1 would fail.

Best bet would be to get in touch with Microsoft Tech Support and ask them about your serial number. They can tell you if you have a legit copy of XP or not.

    I had that problem.

Try this: Boot with slipstream CD in drive and when the screen asks if you want to boot from CD? hit any key (if you can find it) ;)

Mine did just fine from there. Also, during the install, when the roboots happen, ignore the "Do you want to boot from the Cd" questions.

I have no idea why this makes a difference in entering the serial number.
