when i type some keys aRe not doing whaT they ARe supposed to. the buttone left of w is maKing my computer to into shutdown. ` mAKes my defAult emaIl or the sbc homepage open. the button left of x mAkes my favorites open, and ALot of other odd things like letters randomly cAPitolizing. aNOther is the right shift make those A's show up before some things. i spilled some water nerA the keyboARd but it didn't seem like it got in it. it just touched the bottom front of it. i didn't think thaT wAS it. i hAVe spilled stuff in the paSt and haVe deAlth with it loosing function quite A bit in the paSt and it never Acts like this. i Always looses key function and usuaLly somewhaT relative to how they ARe lAyed out the the inner boaRd in the keyboARd. AAand usuAlly goes AwAY with A full cleaning aNd drying aNd some wipping of likely spots or intersections between the different lAyers.

the only thing i cAN remember instaLling, though alot of other stuff haS hAPpened like updATes aNd A driver change because of some possibly video caRd problems etc, is i instAlled windows symbols pAcket And the debugger tool. i'm sure something else could have cuASed it but i cAN't remember cleaRly, yet, whaT else i chaNged thAt could hAve caused this. except i added some more stuf from the windows cd to see if it would fix something. i think it wAS to see if it would jog this problem out of my keys though. so it wAS aLreAdy a problem And couldn't haVe caused this.

it seems not to physicALly be the keyboARd though. it specificaLly ACtivates some thing tAHT could be attAched to A key thaT you would normAly do in windows somewhere. like bringing up interenets explorer or opening 'my computer' but aT the same time is ALso cAusing normaL keyboArd to happen. haS aNyone heARdof this or know whaT could be done to figure out whaT is cAusing itA?

and this problem hAppens in ANd out of APplicAtoins. it AFfects thing on the windows desktop lv seemingly even when in AnA pp like diAblo 2 i would think would get the focus. it actuaLly Activates things while i'm plAYing A gAme on my desktop And takes me out of the gAMe aNd back to the desktop. or AtleASt in diAblo 2. i don't know if it did with aNother gaMe.

edit sorry i didn't know whAT to name it aNd went on to write it thinking i would com eup with something and then ended up hitting the post button before reAling i still haD to name it but i didn't delete the nAme ihad written fully. i was going for something in the title like 'i aM having problem with some lv of keyboARd function.' or 'i AM having a problem withmy keboard dong sometihng or other etc.' or something hence the i of the title.edit, or something like keysrebound.

ABTW i'm using windows xp sp2. a(ANd this could possibly go in the windows xp forum. but i wASn't sure so i put it in this forum.A) and a very bAsic keyboARd mitsuko keyboArd.

edit AFter move. i don't beleive this is actuaLly a keyboaRd problem. i think it is softwaRe related but i didn't know if it wAS related to xp enough to stick it there. i could use some help figureing out whAT is cAusing this exActly. does anyone knowA?

What I would try is uninstalling those programs in Add or Remove Programs related to running/controlling the keyboard (including the fixes).

You have tried another keyboard? This would rule out the "spill ", but you may need to uninstall the drivers in Device Manager so that it is reinstalled at the next boot.

If it is a USB keyboard, you should keep a PS/2 keyboard available for troubleshooting some of these sorts of problems.
