Problems w/ Netscape and its Mail program... please help?..

We run Win 98 2nd ed, 700 MHZ. 30 GIG HD (with 27 GIGS free) 512 RAM.
56K Modem. We have always used NS and its mail prg with no problems. We recently
reloaded Win 98 and reformatted the HD (had it done professionaly) . After doing all that we reloaded NS 7.1 Since doing that I get eror msgs.. one being .. Could not iniatiate the browsers security componant because profile files.. bla bla bla. .. another being ...
that preferances are not being saved besause of .. somthing or other. Also.... my email does not load when I open the NS Mail and Newsgroups... all I see is question marks where it would normaly show the amount of emails. When I click on get messages it doesnt check it at all.. it does not connect to the server. I dont want to create a new identity... I can use the NS mail on the web.. but so want to use the NS mail and newsgroups program thats built into NS. Im sorry this is so long but I really would appreciate some help. Thanks so much to anyone willing to help.
P.S. we are senior citizens, this isnt that easy for us... so please dont get mad at me.

I promise not to get mad at you, as I too am a Senior Citizen!

Just to be certain that I'm clear on what's happening, you are using the Netscape Webmail as the sole Mail Account? When you try to connect to the Account to access and receive mail, that is when you get the errors. It would be most helpful if you could give us the specific error. Try to access the Mail, and when the error comes up, if you could write it down and post it, it would be most helpful. In the meantime I will check the Webmail Help pages and see what I can find.

I must add that the Webmail can be most unreliable at times, and not being able to connect to the server is not unusual. Did you manually set up the server settings or did the Mail Wizard do it for you?

Another SC here. All the stuff with blah blah concerns me because it deal, in part with the profile, one of my pets.

Weird things happen when you reformat the hard drive. That's why I limped along till the hard drive died.
