I frequent a "Do-it-yourself" forum and I can no longer view the forum as I used too? Not sure if it's directly related to the upgrading of FF as I don't remember exactly when this started happening, but I can view the forum correctly when using IE8 (but prefer to use FF).

I took a couple of screen shots in hopes to show you what it is I'm referring to:

Anyone have any idea what might be going on?

    Thanks!
    Vicki

    Not sure, Vicki.

I have Firefox 25, and my view of doityourself.com in XP and Windows 7 looks the same as your IE version.

AskForSanitize is a great add-on for cleaning out your Firefox cache.

Just be sure to uncheck Site Preferences or you will lose your ability to block unwanted images.

Looks the same to me in FF 25.0 and IE 10. Neil.

Clear the cache using the History menu.
The site does not display correctly because its CSS stylesheets are not loading.
The site's CSS is being pulled from a different domain: ui.ibsrv.net.

It's also possible that an add-on or security setting prevents loading some content from external domains.

What if Vicki changed to OpenDNS servers?

    No luck

I have tried clearing the cache without any success in viewing that forum. I suspect you may be correct, Tony, when you mentioned an add-on or security setting may be causing this issue.

I reset/restored FireFox and then went to view that forum. It appeared normal (but I didn't actually try to view any of the forum categories). Then I installed the ad-block plus add-on and *poof* forum went back to the un-navagible viewing.

Also tried to disable ad-block plus on that website but it made no difference.

What does that mean? Not that it will help me figure out what's going on, but I'm curious.

Thanks for all the input, I suppose I can just use IE8 to view that forum, but seems a shame that FF worked on there for so long and now it doesn't.

Still open for any other suggestions though!

    ~Vicki

I may have found the culprit?!

How I ever manage to come up with the oddest scenarios is beyond me!lol Sure am grateful for all the help I always receive when coming here though!

So my latest attempts at trying to "fix" this issue, has led me to believe it may be my Avast that's blocking the correct viewing of that website?

I tried starting FF without any add-on's and the site worked as it should. I only have 3 add-on's listed (Ad-block plus, Microsoft Net Framework Assistant and Avast online Security). So I then tried re-enabling them one at a time.....and when I enabled Avast--there it went! Back to the un-navigable website!

Is there any way I can set it so that I can view that website correctly?? Or am I going to need to find a different antivirus program?

    Thanks again everyone!
    ~Vicki

I don't use Avast's online security plugin. I prefer to use WOT (web of trust) instead.

On XP, I have the .NET plugin disabled in my Firefox browser for what it's worth. (not even sure what it does, but it gets bad user reviews at Mozilla so I disabled it)

Try FF > Tools > Options > Security > Exceptions and Allow Avast. Neil.

Just keep the Avast plugin disabled.

Thank you, retiredlearner, for the link explaining what css is. There sure was alot of information about it (none of which I could understand though!) But at least now I know what it is! I also did try the tools> options>security>exceptions, but was confused as it asked for an exact web address to let it allow?

I do also have a question about disabling the Avast plug-in, won't that leave me vulnerable to catching something? I'm not really familiar with what "plug-ins" are used for, but disabling one that is supposed to be protecting me sounds scary!

    Thanks again,
    ~Vicki

NO - it is purely advisory - see here.

    Web of Trust
(WOT) will do the same thing for you without the hassle.

A big "Thank you!" to everyone who offered help. I have disabled that Avast plug-in and have now installed the WOT. Things are working as they should (for now anyway!:D )

Hope you all have a great day.....you've certainly made mine one!

    Great to hear, Vicki!

Strange that the Avast plugin would cause rendering problems. I think they are having some issues with their 9x versions.

Nice to see you got sorted and learned something in the process. I try and avoid using Addons/plugins as much as possible do to problems I see here. Neil.
