Can I run xp in dos mode? I use this when copying to a cd and it worked fine with 98se. With xp loaded I have no access to things like find, programsand some other windows I had with98, how do I get them back? But I really need to be able to access all the drives. I have not been able to find a way to do these things, I can surf the net and use email.
    Thank You.

XP doesn't have real DOS. But it does have a command prompt window, which still accepts and runs alot of DOS commands. Start>All Programs>Accessories. Go to help and support under command prompt for a list of available commands.

You should have all the functions you mentioned, and more, within XP, and there are easier ways of doing all those things than using DOS-like commands. Right click in your system tray from your desktop, unlock the toolbar and choose properties. You can customize your "start button" from there.

Burning CDs from XP is easy. If "Help" doesn't help, post back with a new thread.

But Johanna - some of us really like the black screen with the white command prompt and the control you get from typing stuff there.

And sad to say, there are still things you can do from a cmd prompt that are difficult or impossible to do from the GUI.

and that is a GOOD thing, because none of those things in cmd unavailable in the GUI should be done by the "casual user "!!

One of these days, when I have time to kill, I wanna figure out HOW to burn a cd from that funny black window...
