    Hello everyone!

I have some questions about my newly installed EZ Armor (antivirus and firewall suite) and hope that someone can help direct me.

    Here is some background information:
    a) Win98 (updates currrent), IE5.5, dial-up connection, Ad-Aware & SSD installed, current on updates and scans.
    a) Previously had NAV 2001 retail version (uninstalled through add/remove console)
    b) Installed eTrust EZ Armor 2005 (also a retail version) seems to have installed without any problems (no error messages, etc.)

Now here is where my questions begin:
    a) I can no longer log in to my hotmail. (blank screen...no login information, no nothing!) Is this due to the firewall?
    b) I have also tried to go to the CA support center and tried to find some help there, but nothing shows up! This is the address I used (https://www.my-etrust.com/services/ez_support.cfm) and then clicked on the FAQ section....Informational headings all there but I don't see anything except a "left pane" and "right pane" and both are empty!
    c) almost every page shows the "error on page" (with the little yellow triangle) in the status bar(?) (the one right above where the start button is displayed). If I click on it, it shows the reason for error (usually a line and character number). Is this also caused by the firewall now installed?

I have never had/used a firewall before so this is completely new to me. I have been reading the "help" sections on both the antivirus and firewall programs without much success (they seem to confuse me more!)

If anyone could help me sort out what I may be doing wrong, I'd be much appreciative!

    Vicki

I use it in XP. Go to the privacy tab. I don't use the cookie one I use Windows, Custom blocking you will have to play with those settings. Some sites don't do well if you turn off the ads. On the Mobile code if you have problems with opening PDF's and downloading uncheck block mime-type integrated objects. These will work in most situations.
If you run into a problem on individual sites then you can add it in the site list with different setting.
Also in Privacy there is a cache cleaner you will have to put the firewall on full page to see all the settings.
I don't use half the settings
It is the same as ZA4.5 Pro so you can check there http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs for particulars.

    Need more guidance, please.

Thank you Maggie, for replying to my question. I did check out the website that you had included in your response, but (I'm almost embarrassed to say,) it only confused me more!

I have been relatively satisfied with using this new EZ Armor Suite otherwise, but am certainly getting frustrated about how to "add" sites (such as hotmail and even the CA support website!) to allow me to access them! I found that I can turn off my firewall to view them, but I know there must be some setting that would allow me to still visit there without having to doing that?

If anyone could give me further instructions (i.e. step-by-step) I would greatly appreciate it!

Expand the Firewall to full screen.
    Go to the Privacy tab.
In Mobile Code-Main>Custom. I have everything checked except the last one for mime -type( this will block any downloads and PDF viewing)
Add Blocking I just block pop ups and banner ads. Some sites don't work properly when you block banner ads.
Cookies are turned off on mine. I use Windows for those. Plus other spyware programs.
If you need to adjust for different sites go to Site list if the site isn't listed click add enter the site then you have to start playing with the settings. I find if something is in my trusted zone in IE I just uncheck everything in the mobile code and be done with it. The blocking banner ads part gives lots of sites problems.
It took me a long time to get my settings so in the Overview I backup my security settings to My Documents. This came in handy when I clean installed a couple of weeks ago.

    Fixed?!

Thanks much, Maggie for helping me with this little annoyance! I think I have it fixed now (at least I can now log in to my hotmail account and visit the CA support center) without having to shut off my firewall!

I do still have one small issue, (when I try to insert a "smilie" in my posts here on the BBS), when I click on the smilie I want to use, the page jumps up to the top and nothing is displayed in the post? No big deal, just wondered why it does that now (never used to?) I know I can type them in, but not sure what characters depict the proper smilie I wish to use? Several places use different ones to achieve the same effect. But that I can live without! :)

    Thanks again!
