Since installing a kiiro mp3 player I cannot make a start up floppy disk using add/remove programs in the control panel. I get a file not found message. The first file was aspi2dos.sys which I found but then another file autoexec.ebd was not found. I tried searching my computer for the file but it's not there. With the file not found message I get the instruction Windows needs the disk labelled Windows Millennium Edition. I've tried finding the file on the main recovery cd but it's not there. Before I could create a start up disk automatically without having to find files. I tried to uninstall the mp3 player but this doesn't help.

    Can anyone help please??????????

    Hi Robin Hood
Welcome to the boards! Before we dig deeper, did you try using a restore point to a time before you installed the player?

If I restored my system to before I installed the mp3 player it kind of defeats the object of buying one, if you know what I mean. Istill need to install it after and it will probably do the same again. I have also installed a few programs since then.

any other advice would be most welcome. and you'll be able to crack your village idiot joke again!! Don't give up your day job!!

    THANKS DAIZY

Wohoooooooo. I'll resist comment and ask instead, for the exact error message that you're getting.

path not found to aspi2dos.sys. I can find this in c:/windows/command/ebd. Then I get an error path not found to autoexec.ebd, I can't find this anywhere on my pc. I can't even find it on my windows recovery cd.
When windows can't find a file it tells me to use a disk called Windows Millennium Edition to find the files I only have my recovery cd but the pc cant find it on that .

I thought it was something to do with the mp3 player because the pc was trying to find the windows files(aspi2dos.sys, autoexec.ebd etc) in the mp3 player program folder.

    Hope this helps, CHEERS

ps the rest of the missing files are all .ebd files eg command.ebd, fixit.ebd, extract.ebd.

Try again and when it asks for the recovery CD, direct it to the Windows/Options folder instead. If not there, then Windows/Options/Cabs folder. If not there (I don't have ME any more ;) ), try Windows/Options/Install folder. The setup cab files should be in one of those folders still.

Great! Now I can get back to my village, too.

You may want to burn that entire Cabs folder to CD. I think you can reinstall ME from those files if need be without using your recovery CD which usually returns the computer to its original state, erasing everything.

If you upgraded from 98, check the Install folder, too. One set of cab files may be from 98. You want to keep the right ones! You can actually delete that folder once you have it on CD to gain some space. Just remember you did it so when it asks for a Windows file, you can use the CD.
