Hey guys Im new and I am pretty useless when it comes to computers compared to a lot of people so bare with me! I basically have a problem with my user account, I think. What I mean is that a couple of nights ago I switched off my computer and installed some updates but I failed to read the warning notice that had come up. So I have checked through my Application event viewer and I have found where it all went wrong:

Windows saved user ACTONBOT\STANYER_MP registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.

This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account.

So this is where it all went wrong and my problem is that now I have all my previous settings such as how the desktop is arranged, my windows media player, browser settings and so on all set as if I have used the computer for the first time. Yet I can see all the settings and files that I have been using previously over the years in the Documents and Settings folder on the hard drive. How do I restore it all so that these are again applied so that when I log on its aquiring the information from that folder rather than this other that has appeared entitled 'TEMP'. Its strange since I have only the one user account on the computer so Im unsure how this has all happened.
Much appreciated if anyone can help, like I have said I am pretty bad with these sort of things so I have turned here for help!
    Tom.
