My parents email got switched from Earthlink to Embarqmail awhile ago. My dad has been complaining about the web-based format of Embarqmail, so I downloaded Thunderbird for them. They have a laptop and a home PC. Everything works fine on the laptop, but I entered all of the same info (incoming server, outgoing server, etc), but for some reason on the PC, it won't connect.

I noticed that on the PC, when I set up the account, it never asks for the account's password.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

    Thanks!

    update

Well, now I realized that I can send emails on my PC. But I'm still not receiving them.

I'll send an email from another account to the embarqmail account. On the PC, I'll click on "Get Mail" and it will say in the bottom left part of the window "Connected to pop.embarqmail.com..." but no new messages show up. That little message will just sit there. But as soon as I hit "Get mail" in Thunderbird on the laptop, the new email pops up..

    Help, anyone?

    What does the
    mozillazine thread mean?
. Did you get the incoming mail to work or not?
Do you have the appropriate settings?

Yes! It does work now - we can receive mail! Thank you for checking!

I feel a little uneasy that there are no firewalls, so I hope to find some way to get a firewall to protect incoming mail that doesn't block Thunderbird. But at least I have Thunderbird working now!
